It's been hot...really hot.
So what could be better than a frozen dessert to cool us all down (as if we really need an excuse for frozen dessert!)
Most of us are opting for frozen yoghurt over ice cream these days, it makes sense - nutritionally, yoghurt contains much more of the good stuff than standard ice cream does. But before you order more froyo, have you considered making yourself some homemade kefir ice cream instead?
Is kefir better than yoghurt?
Here's how to make kefir ice cream (it's easy)...
Ingredients
- 1 x egg
- 1 x cup of milk kefir
- 1 x cup of heavy cream
- 1/4 x cup of honey
- 2 x tablespoons of vanilla extract
Directions:
Step 1: Mix together the egg and the cream, and cook the mixture in a pan over a low heat - stir.
Step 2: Once thickened, remove the mixture from the heat and leave to cool. Add the milk kefir and other ingredients, then stir well.
Step 3: Chill the mixture then add it to your ice cream mixer (follow the instructions on your particular model).
Once ready, you can eat your ice cream straight away or leave it in the freezer for a harder consistency.
ENJOY!
